James H. Bleckman, 67, of Washington, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 16, 2017, and was born in Washington on August 19, 1950, to the late Edward and the late Margaret (nee Brinker) Bleckman. Jim, a lifelong resident of Washington, married the love of his life, Jeanne Jasper on April 22, 1972, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, and made a career in the family business, Bleckman Machine Shop. He was partial owner and past president of the company. Jim enjoyed pursuing social activities that brought family and friends together, and was the ultimate backyard BBQ entertainer; although he never really needed an excuse to host a cookout, Cardinals games provided an excellent one. Every opportunity at Truman Lake meant time on and near the water fishing and camping, and of course, crappie for an upcoming fish fry. He loved exploring team pursuits, and was on the “Buds” baseball team, various slow pitch softball teams, and the Elks dartball team.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, October 23, 2017, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 22, at Miller Funeral Home from 3 until 7 pm. Memorial donations are appreciated to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, St. Francis Borgia Regional High School Athletic Association, or a scholarship fund to Ranken Technical College.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanne Bleckman (nee Jasper); two children, Jennifer Twomey and husband Brian of Crosshaven, Ireland, and Steve Bleckman of Washington; one brother, Tom Bleckman and wife Nancy of Washington; six grandchildren, Killian, Ella, Aiden, Julia, Lilly, and Milo; other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Geraldine and Carol Lee Bleckman.
